NIPT: Induction Workshops

Induction Workshops will be available online only during Term 1 2020 via the NIPT online learning platform https://onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie.

Two new online workshops will be added: 

  • Teacher Professionalism and Well-Being NIPTWS01 (Cross-Sectoral)
  • Múineadh na Gaeilge NIPTWS12 (Primary)

Please note that the primary Planning and Preparation induction workshop has been updated for 2020/21 to reflect current practices in planning and preparation.

An Induction Workshops Calendar 2020/21 will not be released during Term 1. Please monitor the NIPT website www.teacherinduction.ie for further updates. 

NIPT: Droichead Cluster Meeting 1

 

Applications for the Droichead process are now open. As in previous years, NQTs must apply for Droichead via the ‘My Registration’ portal on www.teachingcouncil.ie and receive a confirmation email from the Teaching Council before registering for Cluster Meeting 1.

Cluster Meeting 1 will be available online only during Term 1 2020. This provision will begin in early October via the NIPT online learning platform https://onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie and will be available for NQTs to complete during their Droichead process at any time that is convenient for them. There will not be a requirement for NQTs to register with their local EC to attend or to have Form D stamped by their EC upon completion of Cluster Meeting 1. NIPT will manage the registration and attendance process during this time. Full details will be provided to NQTs who engage with this online cluster meeting on https://onlinelearning.teacherinduction.ie.

Webinar: Self Care for Teachers

 

Jigsaw Connect for Teachers Live Webinars

 

The ‘Jigsaw Connect for Teachers’ Live Webinars are being delivered on Thursdays (4pm – 5pm each Thursday), in collaboration with ESCI. The live webinars, available to teachers who have signed up to the online eLearning Platform, are being hosted by Jigsaw Clinicians and include ESCI tutors on the panels for each. The dates & themes are as follows:

 

·         Thursday, 23rd April, 4pm – 5pm | Teacher-self-care for Post-Primary Teachers

·         Thursday 30th April, 4pm – 5pm | Teacher Self-care for Primary Teachers

·         Thursday 7th May, 4pm – 5pm | School connectedness – How are teachers currently maintaining school connections with students while being disconnected (during school closures)

·         Thursday 14th May, 4pm – 5pm | Managing Student stress and anxiety - How can teachers support their students to cope with the stress and anxiety of ‘unknowns’ re exams in the midst of Covid-19

Mental Health eLearning Programme for Teachers

Jigsaw, in collaboration with ESCI Education Support Centres Ireland, has developed a number of interactive online training courses for teachers.

This unique training, based on the latest research, was developed in collaboration with young people, teachers and schools. The courses are self-directed, and provides ongoing opportunities for reflection. Once you sign up using an email address, log in and complete the courses at a time and pace that suits you.

What do I do next?

The Mental Health eLearning Programme for Teachers, proudly endorsed by ESCI – Education Support Centres Ireland.

This 2 hour online training course introduces teachers to youth mental health. This course has a specific focus on the school environment and is suitable for all second level teachers.

  • To build the mental health literacy and skills of teachers
  • To encourage teachers to think about their role in promoting youth mental health
  • To support teachers with ideas for whole school mental health promotion.

Finishing this teachers will receive a certificate of completion and be able to access a Junior and Senior Cycle classroom based workshop presentations with interactive resources.

Self-care for teachers

This 45 minute online course will introduce teachers to the concept of self-care. It covers the importance of self-care in the life of a teacher, and ways to ensure it is a part of their teaching. You will receive a certificate of completion once you finish the course.

  • Have a greater understanding of what self-care is
  • Have a greater understanding of the importance of self-care in their role as a teacher
  • Explore the challenges to supporting self-care practice
  • Be more aware of their own self-care needs
  • Be able to develop their own self-care plan.
