BLAST Scoil Chlíodhna Community NS Mural
The third class students at Scoil Chlíodhna Community NS worked with artist, Avril O'Brien to create a mural in their school.
This project was part of the Bringing Live Arts to Students and Teachers (BLAST) initiative.
The theme of their project was Identity.
The students created their own sketchbooks to form reflective journals in which they collected family stories and images that represented their interests.
They then used a digital app to generate stencil-ready portraits and adapted these as self-portraits, creating collage backgrounds with images generated through their sketchbook enquiries.
The students also brainstormed words associated with the inclusive culture of their school community.
These words were made into stencils, along with a portrait of each student. The students spraypainted colourful backgrounds on two large boards and added the words and portraits to complete the murals.
Congratulations to all involved in the project.
