Supporting your child with their Literacy and Numeracy
Guidance and advice on how you can help to give your child the best supports when starting school. A lot has changed in infant education over the years and a lot of parents wonder how to help and support their child with their numeracy and literacy. This workshop will guide you through how children learn letter sounds, begin writing skills, learn basic number activities and conquer the basics of maths skills. It will also give parents simple and practical hints and ideas on how you can not only assist your child with their schoolwork but also carry activities to promote learning in the home without it turning it into a chore!
The facilitator, Catherine Murray, is a Principal and a teacher of 16 years and has been teaching infants for the most part of her career. She is an Aistear tutor (playful teaching and learning) and also a mother of 3!
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during the workshop for any advice you wish to receive for preparing your child for starting school or any support you wish to receive regarding schoolwork.
