What you need to know about working in an SEN setting

Teachers interested in working with ASD/SEN pupils are invited to this information session held by SEN teacher Libby Conroy (MSEN SEN, PG ASD)

We will talk about Autism and briefly look at sensory and language and behaviour issues that affect how SEN children learn. We will discuss the best practice, evidence based teaching strategies you will need to be familiar with when working in an SEN setting. Participants will be guided on how to plan, assess and adapt the curriculum to meet these often complex learning styles.

Dr. David Jordan PHD will also speak about his experiences in the mainstream class setting and he will give advice on how he was helped and encouraged in his education.

Learning outcomes:

1.       That participants understand that SEN students have a different learning style

2.       That participants understand the different pedagogies used in an SEN setting

3.       That participants will know how to prepare for the new class setting
