Developing PE and Geography Map Skills with Virtual Orienteering
In an enjoyable, virtual orienteering experience, participants in this online course will be encouraged to reflect on how google maps can be used to develop pupils map skills within both the PE and Geography curriculum. It will also empower teachers to take an integrated approach between the two areas. During the webinar attendees will also create their own virtual orienteering trail and explore how their pupils may also use online tools to explore their locality. Finally, participants will explore apps which can be used to integrate digital technology within traditional orienteering in PE as a means of enhancing motivation and to support non contact orienteering in the current times.
Participants will need to have an internet enabled device and also be required to print a 3 page document (including a map and a question sheet) in advance of the webinar.
This course is suitable for Primary teachers and Post-Primary teachers of junior classes.
