 Music In Motion

Music has a positive impact on learning and on the social, emotional and psychological development and wellbeing of children. This practical and music-making course will ensure that all teachers, particularly those who don’t have a musical background, are equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to deliver music lessons with confidence to all primary level students.  

Participants will become familiar with key concepts, such as musical elements and music theory and will compile a bank of resources which they can draw from as they discover engaging approaches to teaching music. The course will focus on all three strands of the music curriculum and participants will be supported to ensure that they can actively participate in singing, conducting, playing instruments, improvising and composing. Participants will also discover how to integrate literacy and numeracy development into music lessons, particularly in the context of the Primary Language Curriculum, while also becoming familiar with strategies to incorporate music into the daily routine of school and developing thematic lessons with a musical aspect. Finally, teachers will be invited to self-reflect on their own teaching of the music curriculum in relation to the SSE teaching and learning framework.

This course runs Monday 7th to Friday July 11th, 2025

All of our Summer courses are booked on the condition that the course fee is non-refundable. 

Course fees cannot be transferred to another teacher. 

Unfortunately, if you wish to cancel your place or you are unable to attend the course, we are not in a position to refund fees.

In the event that the minimum number of participants required do not apply then the Centre will be obliged to cancel the course and all monies will be refunded in full.
