Aftermath of 1916 - Honouring The Narrative of Everyone on The Island 19-1879

Aftermath of 1916 1916 and its Aftermath – Continuing the Centenary of Commemorations 1916 to 1923 The course continues the study of the revolutionary period in Ireland 1916 – 1923. Particular attention will be paid to events in 1919 – both national and locally in the Cork area; the rise of Sinn Fein, First Dail, Beginning of the War of Independence etc. Courses will be a blend of lectures/slide presentations, fieldtrips, walking tours etc. Willingness to travel/car pool required as the course will include visits to various sites in East Cork, Cobh and Spike Island, Collins Barracks, Cork Public Museum, St. Finbarr’s Cemetery etc. This course will be facilitated by Sean Horgan. Sean is a local historian/author who has been delivering Summer Courses for CESC for the past 12 years. He is a former PDST SESE/ History tutor and has a keen interest in local history. Important: Before you finalise payment for your course, please note the following: All our summer courses are booked on the condition that the course fee is non-refundable. Course Fees are not transferrable to another teacher. Unfortunately, if you wish to cancel your place on one of our courses or you are unable to attend the course, we are not in a position to refund fees. In the event that the minimum number of participants required do not apply then the Centre will be obliged to cancel the course and all monies will be refunded in full.
