Ready & Willing to Lead - 4 week course

A series of four, in-person, sessions make up the Ready & Willing to Lead Programme for aspiring middle leaders. This is a course where like-minded individuals can come together to share their experience through challenging and supportive professional conversations. The course will be facilitated by experienced coach & deputy principal, Marie Sheehan of Clochán Coaching & Education Consultancy. Each of the 4 sessions will provide space for building leadership skills, developing your CV and reflecting on the critical role of effective middle-management in our schools. There will also be a focus on interview preparation and how to complete an impactful application form. The course is suitable for both primary & post-primary teachers who are aspiring to AP1 or AP2 positions.

 

Session 1:

• Understanding the role of AP
• Looking at the rewards & challenges of school leadership
• Completing an audit of your leadership skills
• Developing an action plan to identify an initiative that will help to build skills to address gaps in your skills profile.

Session 2:

• Reflection on progress in building own leadership skills
• Re-working action plan to build further skills
• Leading impactful teaching & learning initiatives with Tom Casey, DP Midleton CBS.

Session 3:

• Reflection on progress with own initiative
• Understanding yourself as a school leader – identifying your core values.
• Dealing with conflict & challenging conversations
• Repair with a view to moving forward

Session 4:

• Impactful application forms
• Interview preparation
• Scenarios and understanding how your experience links to LAOS.

This course will take place Face to Face in the Cork Education Support Centre

Dates: Tuesday 9th September, 23rd September, 7th October and 21st October

Time:  6.30pm to 8.30pm

Bio of Presenter Marie Sheehan is a Post Primary Deputy Principal with 20 years experience. She is the owner of Clochán Coaching & Education Consultancy. She is an accredited team and individual coach with the European Mentoring & Coaching Council. She completed her masters with CLEO in 2016. Marie works with middle and senior leadership teams in schools. She also delivers bespoke CPD for teachers and SNAs. Marie offers one to one coaching sessions for teaching, SNA, middle-management & senior management job positions.
