About the Speakers:

Dr. Ryan Gallagher is a full-time Lecturer in BEd Science Education serving as deputy Programme Director in the School of Education, at University College Cork (UCC). He graduated from University College Cork with a BSc in Science Education (chemistry specialism), an MEd in Education (by research) and a PhD in Science Education. He has spent 10 years teaching science at secondary school level, 

Ryan has written several journal articles in the field of Education, particularly on the role of Online Learning in Education. In more recent years, he has published articles on the use of generative AI in education. Ryan currently serves as an Irish representative on the OECD science committee for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), on the PISA National Committee of Ireland and also currently serve on the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) committee. He is a member of the executive of the International Council of Associations for Science Education (ICASE) where he serves as Membership Secretary. He previously served as Chairperson and Treasurer of the Cork branch of the Irish Science Teachers’ Association (ISTA).

Dave Weston has over 10 years of experience in the Edtech and Elearning sector, Dave is  the Country Manager UK & Ireland at Edpuzzle, one of the leading online platforms that enables teachers to engage every student, one video at a time. He oversees the business development and customer success of Edpuzzle in this region, and is responsible for driving the adoption, retention, and satisfaction of our users.

Dave has a proven track record of leading the commercial growth and international expansion of online education programs, such as LiteracyPlanet and Skwirk Online Education, and partnering with educators, influencers, and government leaders to promote and implement innovative learning solutions. Dave is  passionate about making education more accessible, fun, and effective for students around the world, and is excited to see where this industry is heading and how Edtech can empower more teachers and students in the future.

Gavin Molly

Gavin is founder and Head of Learning Solutions at Olus Education. Gavin has been involved in digital learning for over 15 years through a combination of roles: he is a former primary school teacher, edtech consultant and digital learning lecturer in St Patrick's College, Drumcondra. He is a Google Certified Educator, online learning specialist and ‘organic CPD’ advocate. Gavin believes in giving students ownership of their learning and supporting teachers to develop their digital learning skills in an organic way at the same time. He believes that digital learning needs to seamlessly reach every teacher at their own skills and confidence level if it is going to make an impact in their classroom.

Danielle McKiernan is a Teaching & Learning specialist with Texthelp - the world's largest accessibility technology company. She strives to create learning environments where everyone understands and is understood by removing barriers to learning, making it equitable, accessible and personal, across reading, writing and maths. 

With over two decades of classroom and leadership experience in the 11-18 educational sector, and a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, Danielle believes in a pedagogy-first approach, informed by evidence and works with schools and school leaders to embed the purposeful use of technology to create inclusive learning environments, empowering all learners to succeed.  In addition, Danielle is the regional leader of the Northern Ireland Google Educator Group, a Google Certified Trainer and Coach and is committed to connecting learning communities, and building educators' capacity to drive transformative educational practices

Patrick Hickey is a Primary Teacher | PhD Candidate | Google Trainer, Innovator & Coach| MIE Expert & Certified Educator | Apple Teacher, Coach & Leader I UDL | Kami Hero | Edpuzzle Coach | Canva Ambassador | Performance Analysis & Coach

Donal O’ Mahony is the Assistant Principal in Christian Brothers Cork,  Prior to his present role, Donal was a Maths and ICT teacher in his current school for over twenty years. Donal is currently Deputy Principal in Christian Brothers College.  He has fifteen years teaching experience where he achieved the top result in Ireland in Leaving Certificate Honours Maths 3 times.  He also completed the Instructional Leadership and Learning Powered Schools programmes. Donal is the former Cork Under-20 Hurling manager and curent Cork hurling selector.

Edmond Hussey is an Assistant Principal 1 and Geography teacher in Christian Brothers College, Cork and is member of the Cork Education Support Centre’s Management Committee. A graduate of Mary Immaculate College, Edmond was awarded a B.A in Liberal Arts (Geography, Media and Communications). Committed to continuous professional development, he received 1st Class Masters of Education from UCC. In addition, he was amongst the first cohort to graduate in the Toraíocht (Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership) accredited NUIM. Professional interests include Educational Leadership, Digital Technology in Education, Professional Learning, Geography Teaching Methodologies, Development Education, Coaching and Mentoring.
