Passing of founding Director of Cork Education Support Centre, Bart Bambury RIP.
It is with deep regret we learned of the passing of our founding Director, Bart Bambury.
Bart was the Director of what was first called Cork Teachers’ Centre, from its inception in 1973 until his retirement in 2001.
During that time, with limited resources and housed in temporary accommodation (An Módh Scoil, Anglesea St; Crawford Art Gallery and St. Patrick’s Quay), Bart made a pioneering and innovative contribution to teacher professional development in Cork.
He was instrumental in the development of our present purpose-built premises in the Mardyke, now known as Cork Education Support Centre, which continues to build on the legacy left by Bart.
Bart will be fondly remembered by all in the educational community in Cork who interacted with him during his tenure as Director.
